Never knew this place existed. But this is our new addiction, been there 3 weeks in a row for lunch. Great specials for lunch.
When dining here, try the scallion pancakes as an appetizer, with sesame chicken its a perfect combo with sweet tea as well.
Wonton soup was awesome. Entrees not as spicy as I like. Service was slow.
It's a nice quite place. And their food is delicious!!
Food is good just wish they had posted of what the dishes are. Would love to try different dishes but it would be like playing roulette
I going to visit them soon and be able to tell you more.
Great food, have ordered take out here several times. We always get the garlic chicken and Mongolian beef. Kids love the sweet & sour. Atmosphere inside is great too. It’s kind of a hidden gem.
I've been bringing the whole family here for a couple years. Great food, good prices, quiet, great service. Kind of a hidden gem honestly. They have a very diverse menu, from Americanized style Chinese to more traditional Thai and Chinese- we have never had a bad meal here. Love this place :-D Surprisingly they are rarely busy; I think most of their business is from take out..
I love there Buffet on Sundays.
Food is not that great. Service is good and they were pretty quick. But there is better food in Waco.
Delicious food. Great service. Very nice setting. My husband loved his shrimp fried rice. I wanted to try something different. My dish was excellent. Five flavor shrimp.
When you are at the restaurant, the food is great. When you order online, they do not get the order. I placed the order, had to give my phone number so I could get a code to confirm the order, got a confirmation receipt, and even received a confirmation email. My son went to the restaurant and showed them the confirmation and they never received it.They know how to take the order, they just don't know how to deliver on the order.
Ate lunch here today, it was delicious. The tea was sweet and fresh, in fact everything tasted homemade and fresh. My daughter and granddaughter both loved it. My daughter ordered the orange chicken, she said it was the best she has ever had. The wonton soup was delicious and fresh. Had the crab wontons which were some of the best I have ever eaten, I will be trying the steamed dumplings next. The waitstaff and manager were extremely friendly, the service was fast, the food was excellent, and we will definitely be back. Thank you for a pleasant dining experience that is hard to find now days, especially with the quality of food we were served.
Very good food with good size servings. Nice waitresses also
3 weeks ago we had lunch here because our first experience was really good. I ordered the broccoli beef on that occasion and the "beef" was a mass of gristle and fat!! I reported that to the check out girl. Today I had the shrimp in lobster sauce which I had during my first visit which was so good. Today the "sauce" was not saucy and I had a clump of raw egg white which I moved to the side! I'm concerned about food poisoning or some such malady after eating this meal! BUT I'm done! Never again will I patronize this establishment. The positive reviewers must have had a different cook!!!
I always have good service and the food is always good. It is one of the most consistently good restaurants in town. It's as close to an authentic Cantonese/Chinese restaurant as you will see for many miles.3/3/20. Under new management (yet again). Very much improved from when I was last here and swore to never come again. The fried dumplings have color on them. They use proper quality cloth napkins now. The hot and sour soup had more substance to it, but not as much spice. Glad to have one of my favorite places back again. I've come here for many years.
Ordered through postmates the other night and was really excited because all my friends RAVE about how good this place is. I tore the stapled bag open and there was a live german roach in the bag running around!! I’ll never order from this place again and make sure my friends know of my experience! If there was a single roach in my take out bag who knows what condition the kitchen is in.
Great service the food was good and I like the Sunday buffet price was good and place clean
Clean restaurant, friendly staff and as good as you can get Chinese food in Waco.
I gave it two stars, because the food was good. I ordered a family dinner, I don't know who's family this would feed, but it's not mine.
This is my first time ordering and eating at this restraunt. I am very satisfied with all I ordered. This is the number one place sense I have been in Waco. All itmems were in my bag. Condiments spoons, napkins,. I was blown away. The delivery man was awesome. Can't wait to go in for another mind blowing experience Imagine eating in could it get any better? Wow!
Really good. Great customer service. Nice environment. Good food. And there is a Sunday buffet for 7.00
Food was delicious but they would have gotten 5 stars if my takeout order was correct.
I love going here and enjoying a delightful szechuan meal with friends. You have to try the cumin beef, garlic pork and sour potato. Don't forget to start with an order of there delicious steamed pork dumplings, sauce included. Also, I would be remiss if I didn't mention the staff who are always friendly and welcoming.
Very good food
Nom nom nom* so good and usually not crowded so it quiet and peaceful*
Great food and great service!
Great food and great people.
Best Chinese in Waco! And I love P.F. Chang's.... but if you want the normal American Chinese experience, go here!!! I had the Moo Shu Chicken and Hot & Sour soup...yummmm....
My favorite restaurant! This place is amazing! Great price as well as great food!
A waco texas icon that still delivers a quality meal and atmosphere
Very Artistic with cultural wall tapestries, plus clean😁. Staff is polite and consistent. Areas for groups and family. Even has a bar (unsure if open at this time)
Very hospitable, very friendly, and great food.
My wife and I enjoyed our meals. The food was delicious!!
Really good food and very good service. It's relaxing invermen
Always love this place. The pho is good and the lunch specials are great for the price. More than filling and im a big guy who loves to eat.
Loved Cathay House again today!
I really enjoyed the meal. The chicken and garlic sauce😋
Insane buffet on Sunday for $6.50. Good food at an unbeatable price.
Hmmmmmm. We were the only people here at 7 pm. Don’t serve alcohol even though menu shows pics lol. Food was distasteful and loaded with soy sauce. Tap water not tasty. I would continue on the road to another place, any other place.
Love the food makes me not wanna cook at home. Good price great food friendly folks.
Great food and that dang hot mustard is addictive
I had been craving authentic Chinese food, and I haven't been here in years, and saw they had Szechuan dishes. I was very excited to Ma Po on the menu, and ordered the Ma Po chicken (I know the original is tofu, but I was in the mood for chicken). What I got was 75% bones, very little meat, and almost no no bites that didn't have some bone/cartilage in it. The flavor was almost non existent. The sauce, which was barely any, didn't not have the spice or deep red color of Ma Po. I paid $10 for a few bites of bland chicken and rice. This was by far the worst dish I've had in Waco in many years. Will not be returning. If you want authentic Chinese food, Fortune Cookie is your best bet.
The waitress was spectacular her name was Angie! Very out going and smiled a lot. Loved that we kidded with her! Thank you Angie!
When I called to place a order to go, I got the politest person ever. You could tell that he was busy.. and that he was under a lot of pressure! Kevin, you keep up the hard work! Thank you for being so polite during your busiest time of the day! This will pass and everything will be back to normal!!
Love It Here!! Amazing Service And Food !
Chicken pho was ok... Service was strange. No acknowledgement from waitress... Not a word... nor a Smile... nothing. A man... Possibly the cook... Owner... Took our order and served starter with entre at the same time. Waited ten minutes for a bill... Went to cashier and silent waitress brings it without word or emotion up to the cashier. Also, owner's children all over and around the dining area. So the atmosphere is more than casual.
The employees all where wearing mask. They were all friendly and polite. I just didn't care for the food. It wasn't as good as I remembered.
This was my first taste of Cathay House. My husband had broccoli beef. I had mushroom chicken with added vegetables. Both meals included large size portions. My husband's meal was tasty. The rice was a great compliment to the beef with broccoli. My dish, by contrast, would have been tasty had the seasoning not been forgotten during preparation. I was in a hotel room so I added soy sauce to add flavor but it was still lacking. The mushrooms obviously disappeared with the added veggies. Rice was great. Would I go again? Yes, and hope the omitted seasoning was simply a seldom made mistake.
Food good service is horrible. We gave them a second chance and still bad. Never gets orders right, order soup and they wont bring a spoon unless you ask. Too bad we liked this place at one time
